Welcome
"Humanity needs practical men(women), who get the most out of their work, and, without forgetting the general good, safeguard their own interests. But humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the disinterested development of an enterprise is so captivating that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to their own material profit. Without doubt, these dreamers do not deserve wealth, because they do not desire it. Even so, a well-organized society should assure to such workers the efficient means of accomplishing their task,in a life freed from material care and freely consecrated to research." Marie Curie.
B'da Best Concepts is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to invest in people, projects and programmes by building resources for gender development, training and research. It is believed that the community are critical development actors and can be powerful catalysts for change. B’da Best Concepts is a relatively young group with Big Dreams and Vision.
The organization was formed in May 2010, by Mrs Binta Moustapha which was inspired mostly by the experiences of the founder as a student, teacher and a data published by the World Bank she came across over the Internet which was compiled by I. A Saint, Harnett and Strassner in 2003. The data stated that Nigeria though one of Africa's largest countries has only 15 Scientists and engineers engaged in research and development per million persons compared with the 168 in Brazil; 459 in China; 158 in India and 4,103 in the United States.
This data explains why there is a scarcity of manpower in the scientific and technological sectors of the nation. The deficiency is especially evident in the medical profession where maternal health is a focal point for the millennium development goals. It is therefore concluded that to make Nigeria one of the 20 industrialized nations in the world and attain the millennium development goals, more proactive steps needed to be taken to help students especially girls and women reduce and ultimately remove the bias towards science and technology based subjects which are the bedrock of any industrialized and developed nation.
